The Untouchables - step sequence

Suspense is a feeling of uncertainty and anxiety about the outcome of certain actions”.
When I watched the untouchables step sequence a variety of different shots were used by the camera in order to convey suspense and drama for its audience .As the scene progresses cross cutting was used between the protagonist and the pram , going down the stairs . Also we see that a clock is being used to signify urgency of time and perhaps that something improtant is about to happen . Loads of camera shot types were used , in the baby pram scene when it was falling down , one being a close up of the wheels which could mean that the wheels are the life saver of the baby . Secondly a point of view shot is used to convey the perspective of the man and the baby , that two unbiased views are being given . In the beginning of the scene we see the protagonist watchig the woman with the pram , because he wants to see if the people around are going to help , when he sees that no-one is going to give a helping hand ... he offers to help out bu this results in some consequences . When suspense starts to build up the long takes become progrsssively shorter , this is to create a sense of importance , that something dangerouse will happen , we see one short take between the gun shots and the man letting go of the pram ... with the baby oblivious to the fact that it might day at any pint during this process . No music is used for one reason - there is no need for it ! . As the other man starts to shoot the protagoinst we see that the camera angle becomes low , which makes the main person seem dominant and strong . One final part that I want to analyse is that of the woman who takes the pram up the stairs during that whole time the camera does not move forward or do anything ! ... we dont know the real reason behind this , but it could be because the director wants the audience to suggest that the pram is important and that it must be saved .
