Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains..

Sypnosis
The romantic comedy stars Hugh Grant as a washed up 80’s pop star has been, Alex Fletcher from the fictitious group PoP. With a failed solo album and some funky old moves, the charismatic and talented musician is managed by long time manager, Chris Riley (Brad Garret of Everybody Loves Ramon fame), and reduced playing small gigs at county fairs and amusement parks. He gets a big break when reigning pop diva Cora Corman (new comer Haley Bennett) invites him to write a duet for her new album. The problem is that Alex hasn’t written in years and they want the song by the coming Friday. While he’s still good at melody, the lyrics don’t come easy.
Enter Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore), his eccentric part time plant woman who has a flair with words. Having suffered a bad relationship with her ex-professor and newly famous novelist, Sloan Cates (Campbell Scott), she’s unwilling to collaborate with anyone. Over time and with some indirect fan-help in the form of Sophie’s sister, Rhonda (Kristen Johnston), Alex finally manages to convince Sophie to co-author the song with him. From there, the chemistry and romance blossoms at the piano and under it. You’ll have to watch the movie to find out the rest.

Slumdog Millionaire presents alternative ideology because it shows the audience of the downgraded streets of Mumbai, with a young boy growing up in the streets . He experiences a lot of unfortunate events including his brother becoming a killer . The young boy then grows up into a young man and enters a competition called ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ . Through the past events of his life , he is able to answer the questions correctly although later on is accused of being a cheat . He does win the quiz show, with later winning the love of a beautiful lady .

  1. WWW - you have applied the term alternative ideology successfully.

EBI - consider whether dominant ideologies are also present in Slumdog Millionaire. Ultimately, what part of the narrative presents alternative ideology?

  2. This magazine is for Vogue , it has a lady with deep blue eyes on a background of flowers .
The magazine uses flowers as a symbol of peace and could also mean love ,further more the depp blue eyes could symbolise harmony and good will to people , it could also be a sign of sexuality as most people find blue eyes girls good looking . She is white which indicates purity .
The word Vogue for the magazine which is written in a posh font could connote that the intended target audience would be for those in the A-C1 class people thereby only those who earn good salaries can afford to buy it everyday . The colour of the font is also pink ranges from different spectrums , which indicates a target female audience .The female is posing with her head slightly to the side of the flowers suggesting that she wants us to actually be interested in her and the topics that follow inside the magazine. The interpellation of this magazine is that it stand out from the crowd ,by using various techniques and connotations such as the ‘new feminine ‘ which means that a female will be more confident if she is to see the tips inside the magazine . It could also mean a fresh start for a women out of a bad relationship and into a new one later on in her life .

This match magazine is mainly aimed at teenage boys 13+ , it uses bold font type for the title of the magazine to make it stand out , it also connoted that its a football magazine due to the word that is used which is match .It contains symbolic codes for example the sun rays used for the background .
Those sun rays highlight the champions which are the players from the different football clubs .The men used are photographs from games that have gone on before. The interpellation mainly constitutes of the men being happy and that they are the main ones to watch out for as they are the best players .
The magazine itself is quite simple in its layout however conveys the message that ‘we are from the makers of the best selling footy mag!’ which highlights the importance of what the UK football is all about ... being the best .
The colour choice for the title page is in red which symbolises danger, that these players are dangerous in the games. The black shadow on the title could state death , therefor the combination of black and red is that beware danger of death .
The football player in the Chelsea top uses his eyes and his finger gestures to connote that he is watching you ,or perhaps that he thinks a decision made was unfair .
The blue background on the ‘annual 2010 !’ could symbolise peace and harmony , or interpret it in a different way it would probably relate to the colour of the Chelsea football team.
